Signs you need this
Most calls we get start with one of these:
- The wireless works fine in the morning and badly in the afternoon, or fails once the building fills up
- Nobody knows the admin password to the firewall, or the person who set it up has left
- Your network was built by whoever was available at the time, and has never been reviewed since
- Your controller or management console is hosted by a third party who charges a monthly fee and is slow to respond
- Something is slow and nobody can say why
How we approach it
We start with a paid diagnostic rather than a quote for equipment. That means measuring what is happening, ruling out causes in order, and telling you what the evidence actually supports.
A recent example from a hospitality client: guests could not connect once around 150 devices were on the network. The obvious answer, a device limit, was wrong. Working through the possibilities systematically ruled out DHCP exhaustion, per-device caps, portal limits, access point overload, hardware faults and switching problems. The real cause was co-channel interference on 5 GHz, with three of four access points sharing overlapping 80 MHz channel blocks. The fix was configuration, not hardware, and it was applied remotely in one evening.
If we had sold access points on day one, the problem would still be there and the client would be poorer.
Equipment we work with
Ubiquiti UniFi, FortiGate, Aruba, and standard Windows Server environments. We are not tied to a vendor, so if your existing kit is fine we will tell you so.
A note on ownership
Where a controller or management account is involved, we set it up in your name. If your UniFi controller is currently hosted on someone else’s account and billed monthly, migrating it to an account you own is usually one of the first things worth doing.
